A photograph taken in October of 2022 in the city of Izum upon its liberation from the Russian occupation at the destroyed home of a Ukrainian soldier whose family stayed back hiding in the basement during the occupation. That solder volunteered to go to the frontlines the first week of the full scale invasion. The toy was found among other family possessions, mostly children’s toys, that were boobytrapped by the retreating Russian forces and the photograph was carefully captured meant to symbolize the broken childhood of Ukrainian children. The children were taught not to touch any of theirs or any other toys. Size 19.6 x 15.6 inches.
