Today, there are 1.2 million registered veterans in Ukraine, and after the war ends, including family members, this number is expected to rise to 5-6 million people.

As of 2024, the total number of women serving and working in the Armed Forces of Ukraine is approximately 100,000, and this figure continues to grow. Women not only actively participate in combat but also play crucial roles in supporting society and their own families during the war.

Relevance of the Project

The war in Ukraine has created immense challenges for society, intensifying the need for psychological support and mental well-being. From initial psychological aid to comprehensive support and stabilization, psychosocial adaptation has become critically necessary.

Women affected by the war face deep psychological trauma, fear, isolation, anxiety, depression, and stress symptoms. The vulnerable groups include:

Women are the backbone of Ukrainian society. Historically, they have not only supported their families but also driven change. They have participated in national liberation movements, contributed to the economy, culture, science, and civil society. Today, their role is even more crucial—they fight, heal, volunteer, teach, lead, and rebuild the country.

Our project is dedicated to supporting women veterans, wives, mothers, and teenage girls. We help them strengthen their mental health, adapt, and develop leadership skills through resilience and psychosocial support. Our goal is to create an environment where every woman can regain inner balance, find new meaning in life, rediscover her strength, and

Pillars of Success

Why our work is effective in a society currently at war, as opposed to a post-war environment

What makes us stand out.

Transformative Impactful approach to the mental health of women and teenage girls in the period of war.

Before the groups began, an initial diagnosis was conducted, which included the use of PCL-5, GAD 7, and PHQ-9. Based on the results of the diagnosis, individual consultations were conducted, a strategy for working with women was determined, and only then were groups created.

– 260 teenage girls participated in the “Rehabilitation Program for the kids of fallen heroes” – 35% decrease of anxiety, 45% decrease of intrusive thoughts in just 2 weeks after the program, supported by University research.

– 159 women who lost their husbands in the age of 25-67 successfully went through the programs of recovery and rehabilitation “Together with You” and “Together with Ukraine forever”. The main aim of each was stabilization, preventing developing of PTSD, building community and resilient behaviour.

Three trainings for the mental health proffesionals, volunteers and social workers were hosted.

Co-organize First National Forum “Women in Medicine” in Ukraine.

Last 3 years over 400 successful cases shaped our expertise, as they were built by the principle of integrity and learning opportunities for participants by multiplying their learning skills  and training opportunities for the psychological community in Ukraine, made in tight cooperation with local administrations and communities.  This approach lets us cooperate with every regional administration, duplicate our positive experience and foster healing in local communities.

Partnership with  the regional administration helps us to achieve better results by cooperation with the National Program of Support of Mental Health in Ukraine.

In 2023 47 psychotherapists were selected and trained by the Danish Bodynamic Psychotherapy School who are experts in Trauma and worked in the war-torn zones and our partners in the rehabilitation program. This approach helps us to create and empower a community of psychotherapists all over Ukraine who potentially could take a role in bringing programs like ours to the different cities and multiplying it.

In April 2023 30 female social workers and volunteers who work with vulnerable part of society took a professional training in the area of stabilisation and recovery.

This approach helps to create local communities of  women who after the therapy learned how to empower each other and build social connection based on leadership and can integrate it in their own communities, as we are working with women from all regions of Ukraine.

Building a strong community of women and women professionals who would be empowered to change their own life, heal and help others is our main goal of the project. That’s why we are working in tight cooperation with Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Administration, Universities, local communities, Women Veterans organizations, leading research organization about Women Veterans in Ukrainian community helps us to be on top of their needs and provide solutions which will help us not only return them to a normal life, but also build a strong community of empowered women, future leaders who recover and inspire others to change their life.

We are partnering with Bodynamic International – Somatic Developmental Psychology school who are experts in the area of trauma and worked in war-torn zones. It gives us opportunity to multiply our experience and teach others.

MindMedia Nexus gave to our program innovative approach of Biofeedback Machine for self regulation of autonomic nervous system and managing stress.

Our plan is to create a digital manual of self-regulation techniques for women in need, multiply it and make it accessible to all women through the local communities and administrations.

By this point we have successfully co-organized with Friend of Be an Angel a First National Forum “Women in Medicine”. Also, officially cooperating with the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Administration and are partners in the Regional program “ Care for the soldier family”.

Our team is proudly led by high ranking professionals who are passionate about their mission of making women and children of Ukraine more healthy and resilient in the current reality of war and its influence on the community.

That’s why our team gathered professionals from all over the world : Ukraine, Canada, Denmark, Israel, USA and Netherlands and implement innovative approaches to the healing, developing resilience within each participant, cultivating health and building strong communities in the time when the war is not yet over, and women keep living and function in the period of war.

As Ukraine is not a post war country, it is important to understand that it requires unique approaches oriented on self-regulation and empowering, transformative approach to traumatic experience as the destruction of war actively effects mental health of women and their children. That is why in order to be productive we gathered expertise and professionals from all over the globe
